Employee Spotlight: Pierre, Software Engineering Intern

Meet Pierre, Software Engineering Intern at Hatio!

What do you do at Hatio?

Software Engineering Intern, Engineering Team

What did you do before Hatio?

I’ve always been interested in automating processes. I was a Computer Science student before my role at Hatio.

Why did you choose Hatio?

With its tight-knit culture, I am able to grasp new concepts and communicate with various departments  – something very DevOps oriented. In addition, Hatio is a place where everyone takes ownership even as an intern.

What do you like most about your job?

While we are serious about meeting deadlines and delivering the best work, micromanagement is absent and we still know how to have fun so as not to stress ourselves. It also helps that everyone here is youthful and lively.

What has Hatio changed since you joined?

There’s been an influx of new talent who will definitely help us with our tasks. Plus, to keep up with the new hires, the office is expanding by connecting to the neighbouring unit.

What excites you the most about the year ahead?

I think it would have to be working on the WMS and seeing it grow to become the perfect solution.

What departments do you collaborate with? What is that like?

I regularly work with the CX and Support teams. Typically, they’re my source of customer complaints which allows me to target areas of the WMS which need improvement.

What cross-functional projects have you been involved in?

I’ve been working with the QA team on automated testing to expedite our testing processes and ensure no bugs make it to production.

What’s your favourite part about the Hatio culture?

We can crack jokes to keep the workplace fun. On the other hand, we all have a say in what we think is best for the project, no matter our position.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I’ll usually work on my personal coding projects, play badminton with friends or just watch TV.
